Our Vision:
At The School of Curious Minds, we nurture curiosity, foster community connection, and promote self-awareness through a hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum that empowers students to thrive academically and personally. We create an environment where inquisitiveness is encouraged, individuality is celebrated, and students are empowered to turn their curiosities into their greatest super power.
Our Approach
At The School of Curious Minds (SOCM), learning is purposeful, personal, and grounded in curiosity. We believe that students thrive when they are invited to explore, create, and question, rather than just absorb information. Our educational model is built around meaningful, hands-on experiences that make learning relevant to the world in which students live.
Central to our design is the 4x4 model, which structures the day into two equally powerful learning blocks. Students engage in four hours of core instruction, aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence, focusing on literacy, math, science, and social studies. The remaining four hours are dedicated to purpose-driven learning, where students participate in project-based work, fellowships with community partners, and electives that support creative expression and real-world application.
Through this approach, students don’t just learn about the world—they interact with it. Inquiry-based learning empowers them to ask big questions and pursue deep investigations. By connecting rigorous academics with real-life purpose, we cultivate confident learners who are prepared not only to meet standards but to shape the future with empathy, insight, and imagination.
Who We Serve
We see your child. Their talents. Their questions. Their potential.
The School of Curious Minds is a proposed free public charter K–8 school, intentionally designed to empower students in grades 4 through 8. We serve families in Henry, Clayton, and Rockdale Counties who are seeking a unique educational experience—one that nurtures not only academic success but also personal growth, identity, and purpose.
At SOCM, we believe every student deserves to be known, heard, and challenged in ways that honor who they are and who they are becoming. We are building a space where students don’t have to fit into a system. Instead, we’ve designed a model that fits them.
Why Choose Us?
Because outdated models of education are no longer enough.
The School of Curious Minds offers a fresh, thoughtful alternative—one built on inquiry, connection, and purpose. With literacy and math proficiency far too low across our region, we cannot afford to keep repeating what has already failed too many students.
We’ve spent time listening to families, learning from educators, and collaborating with community members to design a school that reflects the brilliance and potential already present in our neighborhoods. Our model prioritizes relevance, joy, and agency.
If you’re looking for a school that honors your child’s individuality and prepares them to lead, create, and thrive, The School of Curious Minds is the place where it all begins.
Here, curiosity becomes your child’s greatest superpower.
Our Four Principles
-
An inquiry driven curriculum that blends academic rigor with real-world exploration. At The School of Curious Minds, students engage in a 4x4 model that balances core instruction with hands-on projects, community fellowships, and creative inquiry that values questions as much as answers.
-
We believe in authentic partnerships with families, local businesses, and organizations to blur the lines between school and community. Every Wednesday, community members co-lead fellowships that connect student learning to real-world experiences and local impact.
-
At the heart of our approach is consciousness. We nurture students’ ability to reflect on who they are, understand their impact, and value diverse perspectives. Through dialogue, exploration, and self-awareness, students develop the confidence to lead with empathy and engage thoughtfully in a complex world.
-
We design learning to be flexible, inclusive, and student-centered. Through intentional intervention, mental health support, and adaptable spaces, we meet the academic and emotional needs of every learner. All students receive the tools, time, and care they need to thrive, no matter where they start.

Curiosity is Key
We’re recruiting for our School Board!
The School of Curious Minds is seeking passionate, mission-aligned individuals to serve on our founding Board of Directors. We are looking for leaders with experience in education, finance, operations, community engagement, strategic partnerships, school law, marketing, and more—individuals who believe in doing school differently and building with the community, not for it.
If you’re committed to innovation, and the power of curiosity to transform lives, we invite you to apply or nominate someone who shares that vision. Help us shape a school that empowers students in grades 4–8 across Stockbridge and surrounding communities. Must be a Georgia resident.
This is your opportunity to lead boldly and help create a place where curiosity becomes every student’s superpower..
